Justin Morris graduated with a BMus from Goldsmiths and has since been working freelance as a guitarist, both in the studio and live, including: national tours for well-known artists and production companies; studio sessions for a very respectable list of artists and producers; playing the summer festivals for a variety of established artists on both acoustic and electric guitars. This means a love for all things guitar, and in the Hot Club Ensemble, even the odd appearance on bass!
David Weston is a professional guitarist with over ten years industry experience. Since studying for a BMus and MMus in music, he has played for a number of high-profile groups, arranged music for top industry artists and played on a number of successful tuition DVDs.
A graduate of the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, violinist John Garner pursues numerous avenues in his music-making, including regular appearances with The Guastalla Quartet, London-based electronica outfit Meraqi, with his jazz quartet and with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Driven by a desire to push the boundaries of the violin, the Hot Club Ensemble is a perfect platform.
Alastair Brown is an experienced guitarist and bass player who is currently studying BMus Guitar at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. As a skilled guitarist and bass player, he not only drives the swinging rhythm section, but also contributes with melodies and guitar solos.
After spending three years up North studying music at Leeds University, Nick Edney has been drumming in London for the last eight years. Playing everything from drum ‘n’ bass to Edith Piaf tribute acts, he has performed in every corner of the London gig scene. The Hot Club Ensemble has allowed him to dip back into his early jazz training days and a love for all things swing has resurfaced once more.
